Home Learning

From the time that your child joins our school we hope to work in close partnership with you/parents.

Your child’s teachers will provide homework on a weekly basis in a range of subjects. We are currently reviewing the homework policy in school to ensure that it meets the needs of the children. There is a clear expectation that parents will actively support their children in completing the homework AND then helping their child to return it to school at the correct time.  The teachers will give guidance to children about what to do for homework and when to bring it back to school.

At Parents’ Evenings you/parents will be informed about the amount of homework that has been returned and any particular support that you can give to extend their skills or knowledge.

The school has a website, sometimes called the School Blog, which gives information about the subjects that your child will be learning about. We are developing links on the website to suitable programmes and information that you or your child can look at and use to develop learning opportunities at home. The School Blog also has a section devoted to celebrating the achievement of individual children in any area of school life.

Your child’s cloakroom displays will also give information about what is happening in class and this information can be used to develop home learning by visiting the local library to borrow books or search on the internet.

Most of all, please ask if you are unsure.
